Event Rules

Please review the following event rules for the Relay For Life of Pottstown. They have been revised to take the new track surface at Pottsgrove High School into consideration, and are in place for your safety and for the security of the event. Revisions are highlighted in bold.

  • The event will be held rain or shine.
  • Student teams under 18 must have 2 adult chaperones at the tent site for the entire 24 hours.
  • ALL youth teams must partner with an adult team.
  • One site per parent team on the track or on the center aisle (may not have one on track and one on center aisle). Sub-team sites will be stacked behind the parent team or they may pick a site in another area.
  • Sites are 15 x 20 feet
  • Tent site selection begins at the first team captain meeting in April.
  • Site setup times will also be chosen beginning at the April TC meeting when your tent site selection occurs. Sign up posters will be displayed in the site registration area with 6 two-hour slots (five on Friday, 9:30 and 11:30 am, 1:30, 3:30 and 5:30 pm; and one on Saturday from 6:00-8:30 am). Volunteers will be available to help teams move their supplies to their tent sites.
  • We strongly encourage transporting your supplies in on Friday.
  • The track will have 10 points of entry…six man size gates, and four with a 12 ft gate. A bridge will be in place for heavier items to cross over the track. It will be located near the shed beside the away bleachers.
  • Pottsgrove School District will also provide a limited amount of handcarts and flatbed push carts for your use. Please return them when you are finished so they will be available for the next team.
  • Non-motorized strollers, wheelchairs, wagons, garden carts and handcarts with rubber wheels are allowed.
  • No cars or motorized vehicles will be allowed inside the fenced area on the track. The track is composed of a rubber base with a painted surface which can be damaged by any motor oils, antifreeze or food products spilled on it.
  • Bicycles, roller skates, scooters and electric wheelchairs are not permitted.
  • No food or beverages (other than water) will be allowed on the track.
  • The center aisle of the field will be used as “food alley” for teams selling food and drinks. This will be a high traffic, high visibility area due to the proximity of the main tent.
  • No gum may be chewed
  • No spiked heels. Flat, rubber soled shoes are necessary.
  • All registered participants will receive a security bracelet. There will be a curfew imposed late Saturday evening. Unregistered participants are encouraged to attend the Relay during the day and evening, but should be leaving for home by the curfew since this is the time the Relay winds down for the night.
  • No open fires are allowed. Personal gas grills and Coleman stoves are permitted provided their areas are roped off for safety! Please be mindful of your neighbors and the smoke from your grill.
  • No animals are permitted on school property, except Seeing Eye Dogs.
  • No alcohol or tobacco is allowed on school property.
  • Be responsible for the area around you. Clean up trash at your tent site, in the main Activity Tent and the surrounding track area.
  • Loud music is not permitted.
  • No liquid glow-in-the-dark items of any kind (necklaces, bracelets etc.) are permitted on school property.
  • Upon the close of Relay, site teardown will remain the same as previous years with the exception of NO MOTORIZED VEHICLES on the track. Handcarts and volunteers will be available AFTER closing ceremony.
