American
Cancer Society Road to Recovery Program Needs Volunteer
Drivers
Road
to Recovery is an American Cancer Society service program
that provides cancer patients with transportation to
and from scheduled treatment appointments and physician
appointments. Volunteer drivers donate both their time
and the use of their personal vehicles to transport
patients. Lack of transportation has become a major
problem for many patients. Many patients need daily
or weekly treatments, often over a period of months.
They may be unable to drive themselves and their families
and friends are working, caring for children and are
not able to help all the time. Volunteer drivers offer
tremendous support to our patients in need.
Road
to Recovery drivers are oriented by ACS staff members
and local volunteer coordinators. Drivers can be reimbursed
for mileage and need only a drivers license and insurance
coverage.
If
you or someone you know would be willing to give some
time and transport our patients, please contact, Peggy
Neese, RFL Co Chair and Director of Oncology Services,
