Paint the State Purple The ACS Pennsylvania Division has planned a statewide program called "Paint The State Purple" for the week of 4/12/08-4/19/08. The purpose of the week is to increase awareness in the fight against cancer, the Relay For Life, and to celebrate survivorship. This week was chosen because it will culminate with our Canine Relay For Life! Our goal is to "Color The Town Purple" from April 12 until Relay so anyone passing through our area will know we are a Relay Community! We have already confirmed that: 1. PMMC will have all of their parking lot lights changed to purple from April 12 to the Relay! 2. The Coventry Mall will have purple bows on the columns inside the mall, and have the week advertised on their marquee and on their website! 3. The Mercury will be supporting us to inform the community of the details and encourage participation! 4. Borough Hall has committed to participate in the downtown area, and the Relay banners will be hung from the light posts the first week of April! 5. WPAZ has scheduled an Audio Issues on April 9th to inform the community! 6. Mayor Thomas will be once again proclaiming April and May Relay For Life Days at the upcoming council meeting on April 9! 7. Pottsgrove School District is planning on participating! 8. The Pourhouse in Pottstown and Crazy Carl's in Schwenksville will be serving purple beer! 9. Lynn Coine will have purple bows available for a donation to tie on your trees, mailboxes, doors, and anywhere else you can think of! Talk to everyone you know to encourage them to change their light bulbs to purple, have purple spotlights on their homes or trees, wear your Relay t-shirt at home and at work, have purple ribbons on the outside of your homes, ask business to participate in moons and stars or to have purple in their windows . . . the possibilities are endless!! Come help support the American Cancer Society and your Philadelphia 76ers as they take on LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday, April 14. A portion of the ticket proceeds will go to help support our Relay. Lower level tickets are $52 and $12.00 goes to your team; Mezzanine Corners are $30 and $5.00 goes to your team. Ticket order forms are available at the Team Captain meetings. Order forms must be turned in by March 14 and tickets will be mailed directly to you. Susan Roggio has again partnered with Kathy's Crew to offer a sterling silver pendant specially designed for the 2008 Relay. This steriling silver totem-style pendant displays a Star at the top to honor those who have survived their battle, a Moon at the bottom to remember those who have lost it, and the Circle of Life between the two to represent the path we all take as we journey through our lives. They will be available for a donation of $20 at Team Captain meetings or by contacting Misha Hutchison at hutchison5@comcast.net
